Development and Automated Modernization
of applications
Nextel Engineering contains the know-how required to help Customers
to modernize their systems and business applications, automatically
migrating them, when required, within each development and between
any type of environment or platform. It is important to understand
the implication of the term migration, i.e., not only translate it
from one language to another with its methods of accessing data, but
also the data in itself, which fundamentally comprises the base of
the information accessed and updated by the applications written in
these languages. To this end, there is already a highly tested technology
in place, designed to facilitate bringing such projects to a successful
end.
Nextel Engineering has a long experience and the know-how in the most
advanced techniques and tools for covering all possibilities and options,
with an expert service and highly tested technology integrated into
its Software Factory. The result is perfect and efficient, doing away
with the need to generate unnecessary costs since the customer is
given a service that does not involve uncalled for technological acquisitions.
In many cases, we realize that it would be appropriate to migrated
from 3GL (Cobol, RPG…) 4GL (NATURAL…) to other languages/platforms
such as Java, a task that involves changing the construction paradigm
for the applications, from a process model to an object orientated
model.

The methodology will, in
the first place, guarantee us that we have a repository with
all the information required to deal with migration: program
chains, source programs, data structure (in files or on Databases),
libraries of functions, etc. In the second place, the methodology
covers obtaining the business model via migration, starting
from the information contained in the repertory. Furthermore,
it defines the rules for generating the migration code in
terms of the established standards, the libraries of functions
uses by the company, and any other consideration that may
be required. Finally, it covers carrying out test plans for
the migrated applications. Nextel Engineering has the best
methodology for this kind of project, and has been tested
on Customers with successful results in projects in “production”. |

Migration tools are able
to automatically obtain a business model for migrating in
a standard descriptive format (XML). In this manner, the format
of the model information in the programming language business
becomes independent, whereby the model obtained will be valid
in the event of requiring future migrations to other technologies.

Parties to solve different needs required by each project,
with agreements to achieve this end with the most prestigious

Testing techniques and
customization incorporate the generating rules introduced
by the methodology in order to obtain functionally and operatively
reliable applications for operation in the existing computing
environment within the company. The management of change is
another vital chapter in which Nextel Engineering acts, facilitating
Customers total training and adaptability to the resulting
new technologies though specific training programs, in a very
short period of time, and with the minimum dedication required
from the Customer’s personnel, they being the protagonists
of maintenance and subsequent developments, in a fully successful
